Charlotte Tilbury - Pillow Talk Collection
Whether you love CT makeup or not, you will most likely own at least one product in your existing makeup collection. Charlotte Tilbury literally took the makeup world by storm and her business empire is growing exponentially. Charlotte Tilbury is known for her old Hollywood glamour inspired products, as well as the gorgeous supermodels she uses for her campaigns. Of course, don’t forget her famous and lispy “Darlingsss”.
If you haven’t heard of the Pillow Talk lip pencil, you have been living under a makeup-less rock, as it is one of CT’s best sellers and known, as the ‘perfect nude’ for almost every woman. Due to the popularity of her lip pencil, Charlotte decided to launch a matching Pillow Talk lipstick as a limited edition only product. But due to it selling out, she added it to her permanent line and cleverly decided to build an entire collection around it. This includes a quad eyeshadow palette and blusher.
I decided to buy the whole collection to show you swatches and share my honest thoughts on it:
The Pillow Talk Eyeshadow Palette has four shades, including 1 glitter, 2 mattes and 1 shimmer tone - all contain a pretty hue of pink. The great thing about this palette is that you could create an entire eye look using just this one palette, as it has both matte and shimmer finishes, as a well as highlight and smokier colours. The pinks are a warmer tone meaning they would suit every single single eye colour.
The left swatches are in the darker light, as that was the only way to really show you the glittery tone to full effects. The right swatches are in the natural sunlight.
The Lipstick swatch appeared like a dark mauve on my wrist but on my lips, it looked nude (with a mauve undertone) - see picture below. I’ve tried Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks before and have many in my existing collection, but this is a new favourite. I like the fact that CT’s lipsticks are matte, therefore last a long time, without drying out the lips.
The blush has to be my favourite of the collection as it gives the right amount of colour to the cheeks, like a pretty flush. It is more of a shimmery/ highlight finish therefore if you prefer a matte blush, this isn’t for you. The left swatch is the outer ring of colour, the middle swatch is the highlight in the centre and the right swatch is the two colours combined. You could potentially create three shades from one blush, have a highlight and blush in one and it would also look pretty on the eyes.
Ps. Excuse my foot that rudely photobombed the picture :)
Overall I love the collection and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves soft and romantic tones. This collection is perfect for the (hopefully) upcoming Spring/ Summer seasons and warmer holiday destinations.
Final thoughts (Jerry Springer style):
I think Charlotte Tilbury has some fantastic products and I particularly love her lipsticks. However (there’s always a BUT), I really disagree with her “templates” of beauty. Yes it makes it easy for certain consumers to pick a “look” but really, how relatable is it?
I look and feel like a pudding sometimes, and it does my confidence no favours to ask for a look that is modelled on a gorgeous Brazilian supermodel. Can’t relate! Let’s face it, no amount of makeup - no matter how MAGICAL it is- is going to make me look like that. In this day and age, people want to look like the best version of themselves and there should never be any pressure to look like somebody else.
The woman is a bloody marketing genius however, and I admire her business acumen. One thing I will say and end on, that Christmas TV advert, where she changed the song lyrics for Santa baby to “Charlotte Tilbury… slip some magic cream under the tree…” I mean, C’mon, toe curling or what! I literally still have nightmares…
Until next time xo
