Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Singapore Series: Singapore Zoo

Singapore Series: Singapore Zoo

Before heading to Singapore, the zoo was on my hit list as I’ve heard so many great things about this zoo. Yes it may seem childish to want to visit a zoo, but I love animals so why not visit a place that houses all the animals you could ever dream of seeing.

Though I had high expectations, Singapore’s zoo surpassed my expectations and literally made me return to my 8 year old self. Being in that environment, immediately made me want to buy ice cream and run up to any animal I could. I often had to stop myself from loudly exclaiming “wooooow” with my nose pressed against the window, next to a 5 year old child, with exactly the same expression.

Singapore zoo had every animal you could think of but my highlights (although many) were seeing the panda with the pink nose, the two giraffes and Gharial Crocodile. I named them too! Button the panda, who was cute as a button was literally THE cutest fricking panda I’ve ever seen in my life. Okay, so I’ve only seen 2 in real life but she was the cutest out of the two. I love pandas because although they look cute, they’re fierce and will bite your leg off if provoked (a bit like me)!

The giraffes, Tiny and Teeny, were absolutely glorious. There is something about giraffes that look regal to me, with their magnificent patterned coats. Is it weird that whilst observing them, I had a moment of fashion inspiration, imagining different prints?! Obviously faux fur... don’t worry!

Gary the Gharial crocodile was enormous and looked like a pre-historic underwater dinosaur. It was so beautifully gruesome that it looked fake. It was only when it blinks that you truly believe it’s real. The Gharial crocodile is the pervert/ predator of the animal world, what with its creepy side-eye and sharp-toothed sly smile.

Whilst walking around, we encountered a thunderstorm, not so strange in a tropical country! At times like this when you have no umbrella or cover, the Safari bus provides respite at SD5 pp and stops at all the major animal attractions. When hungry, though there were many eateries and food choices, we opted for KFC!

Other than the zoo and hundreds of animals you have at the park, you can also attend the River Safari and go on the Amazon Quest boat where you can see other wildlife such as flamingoes. There is also a boat ride where you can visit the huge Reservoir.

Other highlights are included below, including animals you can feed (huge-ass tortoises)! Apparently the bigger the are, the older they are. I named them too, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello; after the three Ninja Turtles.

Don’t just assume that once you’ve seen a zoo, you’ve seen them all. Singapore’s zoo was truly spectacular and it’s an attraction that will not only please children but adults. You will need a whole day out to enjoy this place! xo
