Chelsea in Bloom - In Pictures
Every year, I look forward to Chelsea in Bloom across Kings Road, Sloane Street and Chelsea areas in general. It’s in association with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which to be honest isn’t my cup of tea but I like finding out how each business has interpreted the yearly themes provided. Previous year’s themes have included the safari and last year’s theme was the ‘summer of love’ in honour of the royal wedding.
This year’s theme was ‘under the sea’ and rather predictably, the majority of businesses decided to go with an octopus and/ or tentacles. The 8-legged sea creature ranged from a realistic (and almost creepy looking) Polpo octopus, to the rather cutesy kind by Monica Vinader.
I wonder who will win this year…
Can you whale-y see me?
The Sea-cret Garden
Turtle-y cool
Jelly good time
Rag & Bone Entry - Starfish and tentacles
Red Valentino’s Entry - Coral reef
(Unsure of the business name) - Most meaningful entry demonstrating all the plastic in the sea
Chanel’s Entry
Hackett’s Entry - Tentacles, submarine and underwater diver
Hackett’s Entry - Part II
Smythson’s Entry - Coral galore
Smythson’s Entry - Part II
J Crew’s Entry - Nothing to do with the theme really, but nevertheless, a beautiful floral display.
J Crew’s Entry - Part II
Rigby & Peller’s Entry - One of the more original ones, using a seahorse as it’s main attraction
Links of London’s Entry - My brain says it’s just a pretty floral design, but my heart says it’s a tentacle.
Peter Jones (John Lewis)’s Entry - Was rather disappointed by the placement. I think it would have been much better placed at the main entrance as a show stopper.
Peter Jones’ Entry - Part II
Kiehl’s Entry - One of many Octopuses on the Kings Road. They also had the great idea of a flower stall in front of Kiehls, however it’s a shame they weren’t set up earlier in the day. Even after 11am/ 12pm, they were still setting up and generally getting in the way of good pictures!
Rixo’s Entry - Unique coral and pearl design
Jigsaw’s Entry - Beautiful lilac Starfish
Jigsaw’s Entry - Part II
Space NK’s Entry - Reminds of the fish from ‘Car Wash’; interesting choice of display
Polpo’s Entry - A realistic and rather predatory looking octopus. It’s very creative and fantastically real looking but I wonder if it would have put me off eating there… I particularly enjoy the cabbage leaves used as the skin
Dubarry of Ireland’s Entry - I enjoyed the boat, treasure chest and couple of man and mermaid which was very unique!
Monica Vinader’s Entry - Twin octopuses
Dermalogica’s Entry - Throne fit for a mermaid
Free People’s Entry - Fisherman net; although subtle, a very tasteful display.
Club Monaco’s Entry - Floral and coral themes
Until next time xo
