Beauty Pie - Have you got a slice of yours?
If you haven’t already heard of it, Beauty Pie is taking the makeup industry by storm due to it’s ‘never-been-done-before’ concept. By paying just £10 for monthly membership, you are able to purchase high quality products at really cheap, factory prices due to their simple packaging, bulk buying and cutting out of the retail middlemen.
The important question is, is it just a gimmick or worth the hype? I decided to find out for myself! In order to have access to the products at discount prices, you have to agree to a monthly £10 membership and you get allocated a maximum £100 (retail value) spend per month. When you first join up, you get an additional £50 to spend, so £150 in total.
It may sound like a lot but considering it is at retail value and since the products are of high quality, it is very easy to spend your allocated amount. For example, I was given an increased allocation of £150 but I managed to use it up with just two products in my virtual basket. I decided to choose products which are both on the bestsellers list; the ‘Red Apple, White Peony and Cashmere Wood’ Eau De Perfume (£125) and ‘Plantastic Shea Butter Hand Cream’ £18.
Though it should have cost me a total of £143, I paid just £33.47 (excluding shipping costs) - what a bargain! Though I wanted to go crazy and shop a lot more products, I will now have to sadly wait until next month, which is in just 9 days. Who says I’m counting?
The main ingredients of Red Apple, White Peony and Cashmere Wood literally has notes from each major scent family; fruity, floral and woody. Other ingredients listed, sound like my dream cocktail; Sicilian Lemon, Mara Strawberry, Quince, Orange Blossom, Tuberose, Gardenia, Cedarwood, Ambrette Seeds and Musk. Overall, I would say that it is a fruity, sweet scent but not sickly. I would classify it as more of a Spring/ Summer scent due to it’s fruity/ floral scent. Beyond the sweetness, you can smell the musky undertone which makes this the perfect balance.
As for the Plantastic hand cream, it contains Shea Butter, Chamomile Water and Plant Antioxidants. It definitely makes my hands feel more hydrated but it smells awful. I don’t quite know how to describe it but in my mind, it smells of Playdough. Though scent is important, the ingredients for a hand cream are more important and as long as it truly does nourish my hand, I am happy to continue using it.
I’m already making a list of what I would like to order next. Being a skincare junkie, I would love to try their famous Japanfusion skincare range and also some makeup items. I will definitely review these when my next allocation is due… rubs hands greedily. Xo
